Pierce County is seeking an engineering design consultant for the Chambers Bay Estuary Restoration project. The scope includes developing 30% to 100% design plans for: (1) Chambers Creek Dam removal, (2) Chambers Bay estuary bank and channel protection measures including riparian and marsh restoration following dam removal, and (3) sediment management to minimize environmental pollution and manage sediment deposition in the marina and channel to Puget Sound. The consultant will provide preliminary and final design engineering services. The major project features are dam removal design, habitat restoration, coordination with technical teams, bathymetric data collection, updated hydrodynamic and sediment transport modeling, habitat design refinement, pedestrian crossing enhancements, integrated design and modeling with the bridge replacement team, environmental permitting and mitigation, communication and engagement with tribes and the community, right-of-way determination and plan preparation, and completion of final plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a construction-ready project. Proposals should include information on relevant recent experience, expertise of key personnel, project approach and strategies, firm background and stability, project management systems, and facilities.
