Site work for a water / sewer project in E Falmouth, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Town of Falmouth is accepting bids for a roof replacement and repair work to the Falmouth Crooked Pond Water Treatment Plant . The scope of work includes removal of roof shingles and skylights , replacement of rotted or damaged roof sheathing , trim , sofit , and facia boards , replacement of skylights with fixed (non -venting skylights ), installation of water /ice barrier along first 6' of roof , and 50 year architectural asphalt shingles . The building is located at 50 Twin Oaks Drive , Falmouth , MA 02540-2761 . Bids must include removal and disposal of all construction debris . 1) Permits : Scope of Work The Contractor is responsible for all permits required to complete this project , including , but not limited to : Disposal and Roofing Permit . 2) Construction and Demolition Debris Disposal : The Contractor is responsible for the removal of all construction and demolition materials . The Contractor shall keep a clean and safe site at all times during the construction period . 3) Lightning Protection System Removal : There is a lightning protection and grounding system installed on the existing roof that will need to be removed prior to the roof replacement and reinstalled after the shingles and ridge has been installed . See photos in Exhibit A. 4) Roof Solar Panel and Bracket Removal : There are existing solar panels and brackets installed on the existing roof that will be removed prior to any work taking place and is not part of the scope of this project . See photos in Exhibit A. 5) Roof Shingle Removal : The entire roof shall be stripped down to the underlayment . Roof size is approximately 112' long x 65 ' wide . The roof pitch is 6/12 . The Contractor is responsible to verify all dimensions and roof pitch . See photos in Appendix A. 6) Skylight Removal : The project includes the removal of six venting skylights . See photos in Appendix A. 7) Underlayment Repair and /or Replacement : After removal of the roof shingles and skylights , the Contractor shall examine the underlayment and shall repair or replace all damaged underlayment with new roof rated plywood . The underlayment shall be prepared for the installation of water/ice barrier and shingles . All nails or sharp edges that are sticking up out of the underlayment shall be repaired or removed so not to cause damage to the new roofing system . 8 ) Installation of Water / Ice Barrier : Water / ice barrier shall be installed along the first 6' and along each gable roof end, and around all roof penetrations . All water / ice barrier shall be installed smoothly along the underlayment and shall not have any bend , rips , tears, or high spots . All water /ice barrier seams shall have a 4" minimal overlap for end and side laps . 9) Skylight Installation : Six new fixed (non -venting skylights ) (Velux or approved equal ) shall be installed . The size of the skylights are 24" w x 48 " long (to be verified by the Contractor ). The locations of the new skylights shall match the existing skylights . Water / ice barrier shall be installed under the proposed skylight step -flashing . 10) Installation of 50 -year , high wind , non -algae , architectural shingles : New 50-year high wind , non -algae , gray architectural shingles shall be installed over the entire roof . Shingle seam overlaps shall have a minimum offset of 6" . Each shingle shall receive 5 galvanized roofing nails . The minimum distance from nail heads to the end of shingles shall be 1" . Roofing nails shall be at least 1 1/4 " long . Ridge caps shall receive roofing cement at each end .
