The extent of the work will involve furnishing the labor, equipment, and materials necessary for constructing the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements Project in Montour, Iowa as shown in the plans and specifications for Project No. 2441 including all work as specified. Instructions to bidders include: - Bids will be received for a single contract including all work as specified. - The work under the contract may commence within ten days upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed, which will be issued following the scheduling of a PreConstruction Meeting, and the project shall be substantially completed by a specified date. - Each proposal must be accompanied by a bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract and furnish a corporate surety bond for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder’s security shall be in the amount of 5% and be in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check, certified share draft, or bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents. - The bid bond may be declared forfeited as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten days and post bond satisfactory to the Owner insuring the faithful fulfillment of the Contract and maintenance of said improvements. - Bidders shall not withdraw their bids for sixty days after the bid opening date. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive any informality in the bids received. - The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount equal to 100% of the contract price at the time of contract execution. - Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond as described, which shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract, prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages, and guarantee the maintenance of the improvement for two years from the date of final acceptance. - Modification to project documents may only be made by written addendum issued by the Owner or Owner’s authorized Representative. The proposal must be made on the forms provided within the bound project manual and bidders must supply all required information prior to the time of bid opening.
