Renovation of a museum in Mount Gilead, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 7,644-square-foot museum.
The project scope includes a 7,644 heated square foot visitor center with both renovated and new areas. The program features reception and retail areas, a small auditorium, exhibit spaces, staff offices, mechanical and storage rooms, exterior access bathrooms, and covered outdoor areas. The building construction type is V-B and the occupancy type is A-3. Bids are to be submitted as lump sum proposals for Single Prime General Contracts. Bidders are to obtain electronic plans, specifications, and contract documents free of charge by request or may deposit $600 for printed sets, refundable if returned in good condition. Bidders must complete and submit the Identification of Minority Business Participation form and either Affidavit A or B, as instructed in the proposal forms. Proper licensing as required by North Carolina state law is mandatory, specifically the Building Contractor-Unlimited license classification. Each proposal must be accompanied by a bid deposit or bid bond equal to at least five percent of the proposal. Performance and payment bonds for 100% of the contract price will be required. Payment will be based on 95% of monthly estimates, with the final payment upon project completion and acceptance. No bid may be withdrawn for 60 days after the scheduled bid closing. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities.
