Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The project consists of the installation of four concrete median islands on Maple Avenue and a raised bituminous concrete intersection at Maple Avenue and Sandpiper Drive. Additional work includes approximately 720 feet of bituminous concrete sidewalks, driveway apron paving, drainage improvements, and other incidental work. Sealed bids must be submitted as instructed, and bid security in the amount of 5 percent of the bid must accompany each submission. The successful bidder will be required to provide performance and labor and materials payment bonds, each equal to 100 percent of the contract price. Bidders are responsible for paying prevailing wages as determined by the Connecticut Department of Labor. State law requires a minimum allocation goal of 25 percent of the state-funded portion of the contract to DAS-certified subcontractors, with at least 6.25 percent awarded to DAS-certified minority-, women-, and/or disabled-owned businesses. The contractor must demonstrate a good faith effort to meet these goals.
