The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking proposals from qualified architectural and engineering firms to provide professional services for the design, bidding, and administration for construction of a maintenance equipment storage building at the Baraga Correctional Facility. Required services include preliminary design to review possible building locations, field reconnaissance to examine utilities, soil conditions, topography, and fit within site travel corridors. The proposed building should be steel-framed with a concrete/masonry foundation, measure approximately 50-80 feet wide by 100 feet long, include a bay for storing sand and salt, an area for equipment storage, heated and insulated, with power-operated garage doors, and a fire alarm system. The building will not have plumbing but will have floor drains. All work will occur outside the secure perimeter of the facility and will require strict security protocols and clearance procedures. Proposers are to provide a complete proposal for all required architectural and engineering services for Phases 400, 500, 600, and 700, covering preliminary design, design, bidding, and construction administration. Proposals must demonstrate appropriate relevant experience and necessary personnel, include a proposed schedule with owner review time, bi-weekly progress summary emails, and details on labor, reimbursable expenses, and adherence to all specified standards and requirements. Proposals must be submitted electronically via SIGMA VSS, with all requirements, costs and technical components included according to the outlined instructions.
