This Project consists of the following elements of work: Abandon in-place existing watermains; install new ductile iron watermain pipe, including valving, fire hydrants, and other watermain appurtenances, ranging from 4 inch to 12 inch in diameter by open-trench method; install new 2 inch diameter copper water main pipe via trenchless moling; storm drainage improvements; assist SPU Water Operations with: cut, cap, blocking of existing watermains, temporary and permanent water main connections, and temporary and permanent water services connection transfers; installation of a pressure regulating station including discharge piping to a new air gap vault, and SCADA monitoring system at the NW 201st St site; and final surface restoration of roadway and landscaping, including ADA curb ramp improvements. This Project is a Covered Project subject to the City of Seattle's Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) and Priority Hire SMC 20.37. With the support of the mayor and City Council, the City of Seattle administers programs that support racial and economic equity through contracting. Priority Hire is one of these programs. Priority Hire provides people living in economically distressed communities, women, and people of color access to work on the city's construction projects. This Project is part of SPU's Water Main Rehabilitation Program. Project work will occur at five (5) sites throughout the SPU water service area. Two sites are located within Shoreline and three sites are located within Seattle, one in the Greenlake neighborhood and two in the University District neighborhood. Water improvements include, but are not limited to: Installation of approximately 3,300 LF of water main Installation of valves, hydrants, and other water main appurtenances Installation of a pressure regulating valve vault with installation and commissioning of associated instrumentation for remote monitoring Abandonment in place of existing water mains Assistance to SPU Water Operations with cut, cap, and blocking of existing water mains, temporary and permanent water main connections, and permanent water service connection transfers Other project improvements include, but are not limited to: Storm drainage improvements Final surface restoration of roadways, sidewalks, and landscaping Installation of 51 curb ramps Contractor is responsible for identifying staging and laydown areas per approved SDOT street use permits. Contractor must coordinate with other projects and contractors per Section 1-05.14 of the Project Manual Contractor can only perform water main construction at one site at a time per Section 1-08.3(2) of the Project Manual Non water main construction work can be done at multiple sites at the same time Work must begin immediately upon Notice to Proceed, and work must be physically completed within 261 working days.
