Description

Site work for a transportation facility in Springfield, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.

The project comprises the supply, installation and testing of a new fiber optic cabling system on the Knowledge Corridor Rail Line (approximately 50 miles of active railroad), from MPS 0.38 in Springfield to MPS 49.67 in Northfield. The fiber optic system shall incorporate a 48-strand armored single-mode backbone fiber optic cable and 48-strand lateral fiber optic cables. One 1.25-inch and one 2-inch innerduct shall be installed along the right-of-way (ROW). Prospective bidders must be prequalified per MBTA "Procedures Governing Classification & Rating of Prospective Bidders." No award will be given to contractor not MBTA-prequalified for a $10 million contract value at bid deadline. Details of the prequalification requirements are specified in the Notice to Contractor.
