Site work for a water / sewer project in Anaconda, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The City of Greenwood (the City) is seeking proposals for the construction of a water meter and backflow preventer vault on the 150 mm watermain at the intersection of Everett Avenue and Smelter Viewpoint Road, adjacent to Highway 3. The work provides metering and backflow protection at the connection between the City's distribution system and the Anaconda service area of the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB). The work can be described as follows: The work involves construction of an at-grade service vault housing a water meter and backflow preventer, complete with internal piping and appurtenances. The vault will be tied into the existing 150 mm asbestos cement (AC) watermain at two locations, with approximately 21 m of new 150 mm PVC C900 DR18 watermain, a gate valve, ductile iron bends, spools and repair couplers. All joints between the tie-ins and the vault are to be restrained and thrust blocked. The section of existing watermain being replaced will be removed and disposed, and the existing hydrant will be relocated. Associated works include utility locates and hydrovac verification in advance of excavation, asphalt sawcutting, excavation, bedding, backfill and compaction at an assumed 1.5 m burial depth, removal and reinstatement of the existing concrete barriers, and full restoration of all disturbed asphalt, gravel and boulevard surfaces. New watermain is to be pressure tested, disinfected, flushed and commissioned in accordance with AWWA guidelines. The watermain is a part of the live distribution system serving both City and RDKB customers. Tie-ins are to minimize the duration of service interruptions, and all shutdowns are to be coordinated with the City and the Contract Administrator. All work shall be completed in accordance with the contract drawings, the Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) Platinum Edition and the City's supplementary specifications. Asphalt restoration must be completed by October 31st, 2026. It is anticipated that the watermain works will be completed prior to the vault arriving onsite. The vault installation works can take place in the boulevard after the proposed waterline is commissioned and asphalt paving is complete. Disinfection of the vault and spool pieces shall be via chlorine swabbing and be less than 6m total length per IHA requirements. The Owner intends to select a contractor with relevant expertise and experience that will offer the best overall proposed methodology and value of work.
