The Town of Castine seeks proposals for paving western Court Street from Pleasant Street WEST towards Tarratine Street. The project area is 741linear feet in lengthy by an average width of 22.75 feet. a. Saw cut or grind the pavement at each end of the work area to provide a proper tie-in for the new pavement. b. Sweep the existing pavement to remove all loose surface material. c. Apply bituminous tack coat to existing pavement. d. Shim the existing pavement as required with a 1-inch average thickness of 9.5 mm hot mix asphalt. e. Overlay the street with 2 - inch (compacted) layer of 12.5 mm asphalt. f. Total area to receive new overlay is approximately 741 lineal feet x an average of 22.75 feet wide or 16,858 SF (1873 Square Yards). The project area width averages 22.75 feet wide. This number is an average of 13 measurements of the width of the project area. Most of the work area will be approximately 21' wide but there are areas where the road width increases to approximately 25 feet in width. See attached pictures for details. g. Include in the bid the installation of small diameter gravel for three gravel driveways to ensure a smooth transition to the new pavement. h. Include in the bid a paved transition from the new pavement to two parking areas. One parking area is on the northern side and is approximately 65 lineal feet in width. The other parking area is located at 13 Court Street (Castine Fire Department) and it is approximately 66 lineal feet in width. i. Include in the bid an asphalt paved transition from the new pavement to four paved driveways. j. Include in the bid the grinding and preparation of a paved transition from the new overlay to a collector road (Dressers Lane). j. Include by line item any mobilization or other ancillary costs in the bid. k. Provide an estimated timeline when your firm will be able to complete the project. Expeditious scheduling will be favorably considered upon bid review.
