Site work for a mixed-use development in Houlton, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility; and educational facility.
Regional School Unit 29 (RSU 29) is seeking sealed proposals from qualified abatement and flooring contractors for the removal of floor tiles and associated fittings/mastic at Houlton Elementary School and Houlton Middle/High School. The project involves the professional removal and disposal of floor tiles and fittings/mastic in designated areas. All work must be performed in strict accordance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding asbestos abatement and hazardous material handling to ensure the continued health and safety of students and staff. Bids must be received by the specified deadline and may be submitted by email or mail/delivery. All interested contractors must attend a mandatory walkthrough of both project sites to assess the scope of work and site conditions. RSU 29 reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bidding process, and to award the contract in the best interest of the District. Awarding of the contract is subject to the availability of funding and final board approval. Phase 1 - Houlton Middle High School : June 15, 2026 , start -up; Completion by July 23, 2026 A. ACM Piping (Small Gymnasium room #357) B. Flooring underneath shelving (room # 134 ) C. Asst . Principal's Office , Nurse's office and isolation room (rooms #202 , 204 and 207 ) D. Middle School wing classrooms (rooms #208 , 209 , 210 , 211 , 212 , 213 , 214 , 215 , 216 , 218 , 220 , 221 and 223 ) Phase 2 - Houlton Elementary School : July 24 , 2026 , start -up ; Completion date by August 24 , 2026 . E. Gym (room 26) and adjacent kitchen breakroom (room 30) F. Kitchen's bathroom (Bth 1) adjacent to Kitchen G. Nurse's area ( Room 28) and custodian closet (room 37) H. Principal's office closet (room labeled BR ) I. Custodian closets (JC2 and JC1) next to boys ' and girls ' bathrooms J. ACM Piping /fittings (Boiler room #25 and rooms annotated with " X" ) K. Breeching - boiler room smoke pipe covering Phase 1 will start on June 15 , 2026 , and end by or before July 23 , 2026 . Phase 2 will start on July 24 , 2026 , and end by or before August 24 , 2026 .
