Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Portland, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
Proposals must be submitted electronically to bidsubmit@portlandmaine.gov with the bidder's name, contract name, and bid number in the subject line, or they may be delivered by mail, courier, or in person to the City of Portland, Purchasing Room. It is the responsibility of the bidder to ensure timely submission. Late bids will not be accepted. Proposals must remain open for acceptance for ninety days from opening. Email submissions must not exceed 25MB in attachments; a confirmation email will be sent upon successful submission. Bidders must obtain documents directly from the City and ensure registration with the Purchasing Office; proposals from unregistered vendors may be rejected. Questions should be submitted in writing to the Purchasing Office no later than 12:00 noon five business days before the proposal deadline. All changes or addenda will be issued in writing to registered firms only. The City will award the contract to the proposer who offers the best value based on defined scoring criteria. Given the playground's broad use by both residents and regional visitors, the project would benefit from a dynamic community engagement approach to raise awareness and gather input on the new design. Will's Playground at 1.7 acres has three distinct spaces: Existing Playground Structure Sloped lawns Swing Bays Vegetated slope over Eastern Promenade Mid-slope Trail Key Design Considerations: Removal and replacement of existing equipment with destination-quality play features. Integration of a variety of play types and age-appropriate activities throughout the site. Retain and protect existing trees. Incorporate the site's slope into a dynamic and engaging design. Take advantage of the site's expansive views. Prioritize durable, sustainable, and context-sensitive materials. Improve accessibility and circulation and connections throughout the site. Support year-round use and enjoyment.
