The Town of Readfield seeks proposals to perform surface gravel work on Gay Road. The work includes undercutting potholes and ruts, grading and compacting, placing new surface gravel (3/4” CSB), grading to specification and compacting, and cleaning and shaping the shoulder as necessary. All proposals are to be clearly marked "GRAVEL ROAD DOCUMENTS – DO NOT OPEN" and submitted to the Town Manager. The Town of Readfield reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals. Proposers may be present at the proposal opening if desired. Current MDOT specifications shall be met for all materials and equipment involved with this work unless otherwise specified. 2. The proposer will be responsible for providing all necessary flaggers, signs, barricades and other safety devices necessary to control & direct traffic, according to the MUTCD manual and MDOT best management practices. 3. The proposer will also be required to meet all laws, rules and regulations of the State of Maine during the course of this project. “Dig Safe” notification and requirements shall be the responsibility of the proposer. 4. Work completion date will be no later then May 29, 2026. 5. Erosion control shall be the responsibility of the proposer. 6. All visible potholes and ruts shall be undercut. Gravel shall be graded to a 4% cross slope, or roughly ½” per foot from the centerline to the start of the road shoulder, prior to compaction. The road shoulder shall be graded to a cross slope in excess of 8%, or roughly 1” per foot from the road edge. Shoulder width shall be approximately 2’ unless otherwise specified. 7. Road crown shall be uniform from the shoulder to the centerline, and not parabolic. 8. Windrows or secondary ditches/edge material shall not be left in the road or on the road shoulder. The road shoulder shall be cleared of vegetation. 9. Smooth transitions are required at all driveways impacted by road work. Driveway connections shall not allow drainage onto the road and the cross slope of the road must be maintained. 10. Road gravel shall be compacted with a 10 ton vibratory roller
