Saving Project...

Site work and paving for a civil project in Kingston, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a road / highway.

Widening of Highway 15 to include bicycle lanes, sidewalks, intersection improvements and typical roadway cross-sections. A new bridge will also be constructed east of the existing bridges, causing the road to be realigned. The project will proceed in two sections Gore Road to Hwy 2, and Hwy 401 to Gore Rd. Preferred solution is: • An urban road cross section within the urban area including sidewalk (west side), multiuse path (east side), on-boulevard cycle tracks, a landscaped center median and landscaping enhancements. • Intersection reconstruction at Highway 15 and Highway 2 to include a 2-lane roundabout in the near term (0 to 5 years). • Widening Highway 15 from 2 to 4 vehicle lanes from Highway 2 to Gore Road in the near term (0 to 5 years). • Widening Highway 15 from 2 to 4 vehicle lanes from Gore Road to the urban limit in the long term (10 to 20 years). TIMELINE: Environmental assessment study and concept design are complete and have been submitted to the city council for approvals. Since construction of the Third Crossing is currently underway, including reconstruction of the Highway 15/Gore Road intersection, there is no road widening planned until at least 2025. The Hwy 401 to Gore Road section is a 10 to 20 year assignment with construction not expected prior to 2028. No construction timelines have been determined to date. Updates may be available early 2024.
