Demolition, site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Pasadena, California. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a fire / police facility.
DESCRIPTION: This project provides for the design and construction of a new building to house Fire Station #37 staff and equipment at 3430 E. Foothill Boulevard. It includes demolition of the existing station and construction of a new, multiple bay, code-compliant facility on the existing site. This station is the hub for emergency medical service equipment that will create storage spaces and a secure space for narcotics and other schedule II drugs. In addition, this station also serves as a location for the water tender apparatus that holds up to 25,000 gallons of water; paramedic bike team equipment; and rescue carts. The renovations will be designed to meet the United States Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver Certification. JUSTIFICATION: The "Pasadena Fire Station Conditions Evaluation" conducted by a consultant in 2011 found that this station was not in compliance with essential service building standards. This project will further develop a plan to address safety, structural, operational, and code-related deficiencies for this fire station. SCHEDULE: This project will begin when funding is identified. HISTORY: This project was created in FY 2013 and is currently unfunded. Per the owner, as of May 29, 2024, this project is on hold, seeking funding. The owner states that at this time, it appears funding will not be available for several years. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
