No. 2763030 March 1, 2018The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is soliciting qualifications from Architects to provide design and construction administration services for the renovation of the first floors of the Chemistry and Leifson Physics Buildings, Project #18RNV00827. The remodeled area will be approximately 14,000 square feet for the Chemistry Building and 8,200 square feet for the Physics Building. Both building renovations are located on the UNR Main Campus. Project scope includes extensive demolition of the first floor areas to construct new large shared laboratory spaces, dedicated lab support areas, additional fume hoods, fire sprinkler systems at the first floor of each building, addition of a generator, replacement of fire alarm systems throughout the buildings, replacement of elevator cab in the Chemistry building, addition of exhaust fans on the roofs and addition of vertical shafts on the exterior of the buildings. Preliminary budget for the project anticipates a $20-23 million dollar project cost. The selected architect will be responsible for developing the preliminary program, concept documents, schematic design, design development, and construction documents for bidding and construction. All construction administration services will be included. This project will employ a CMAR delivery method. Construction is anticipated to begin late 2019 for with substantial completion in late 2020.
