The School Board approved $150 million over the next 12 months to help fund seven capital referendum-financed projects: $4.5 million to renovate Fratt Elementary. The RUSD Board also approved construction guaranteed maximum prices for referendum-funded work at three buildings. The School Board approved a guaranteed maximum price of $26.67 million for work at Mitchell, which is scheduled to be completed by August 2025 The total project budget of work at Mitchell is just over $34 million. The board approved a construction guaranteed maximum price of $18.47 million to expand Olympia Brown Elementary into a K-8 school, which is scheduled to be done by August 2025. _________________________________________________________________________________________ As of January 6, 2023, a construction manager has been selected and this project is in the planning phase. Information regarding an architect has not been released. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025 and complete in August of 2026. Bond fund $598 million of work over 30 years The referendum would provide the funding needed to make the following improvements at Fratt: SAFETY & SECURITY: • Create new secure entrance and office for improved parent access • Replace fire alarm, clock, video and PA systems LEARNING SPACES: • Reconfigure existing office into Classroom • Repurpose existing gym for Music and STEM lab • Replace coat hooks with cubbies BUILDING ADDITIONS: • Build new gymnasium and student support offices • Add new playground, offices and receiving area INFRASTRUCTURE: • Refresh building interiors (LED lighting, flooring, ceilings, casework, paint walls) • Address building maintenance (doors, roofing, HVAC updates, exterior masonry and concrete, retro-commissioning) The 2020 bond referendum was passed and approved by the voters on April 7, 2020.
