Renovation of an educational facility in Madison, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
In general the work consists of: installing containment netting at areas of potential falling hazards, removal of potential immanent falling hazards, repair of terra cotta cracks and spalls, reglazing of terra cotta units, removal and replacement of existing sealant joints between terra cotta units, terra cotta joint masonry pointing, and spot cleaning of terra cotta to facilitate repairs. The scope also includes an arms length visual and sounding inspection of the terra cotta parapet / cornice and limestone frieze / architrave. The project goal is to stabilize the parapet / cornice for a period of 5 - 10 years pending a future repair / replacement project. Complete repair / replacement of the parapet / cornice is not within the scope of this project. The 2017-2019 Wisconsin State Budget (2017 Wisconsin Act 59) repealed Wisconsin's prevailing wage laws. Effective September 23, 2017, state prevailing wage requirements on state building projects no longer apply. These changes take effect for projects advertised for bid after September 23, 2017. This change does not affect the Federal Davis Bacon Act requirements.
