Update: Existing watermains at the end of Eganfuskee Street, Waldemar Road, Body Court, Carl Street, and Clark Lane consist of asbestos cement (AC) pipe constructed in 1971 that is undersized for current fire protection levels of service. Under this project, undersized AC watermains will be replaced with properly sized PVC or ductile iron pipe. Valves, hydrants, and water services from the main to the meter will also be replaced for improved system isolation and fire protection. This project supports the Town's Strategic Plan Results of Fiscal Responsibility and Safety by managing the renewal and replacement of water system assets to provide well maintained infrastructure at established levels of service. These activities enable the Utility to provide safe and reliable drinking water plus necessary fire protection, that meets all regulatory requirements. In 2019, watermains were replaced on Elsa Road, Paulina Road, and a portion of Yacht Club Drive with construction of drainage improvements on Elsa and Paulina Roads. This project represents a continuation of the prior improvements. Staff report frequent line breaks on Waldemar Rd and Body Court especially after heavy rainfall events necessitating extensive restoration to the roadway and private property. The project budget has been increased by $83,155 in accordance with current construction market pricing.
