MTC is seeking bids for the construction of roadside infrastructure downstream of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (SFOBB) toll plaza in the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane1. The roadside infrastructure will be used to deploy a Vehicle Occupancy Detection (VOD) system as part of a Phase 2 pilot project. The VOD system will be integrated with the existing toll collection system and FasTrak back office system. VOD system equipment will be installed on poles located approximately 50- to 100-ft downstream of the toll plaza canopy and will be used to verify tolls based on vehicle occupancy in Lane 1 during HOV hours. The pilot project will include the following physical improvements: 1) Installation of two new Caltrans standard poles with mast arms (MTC-furnished items) and foundations, approximately 60-ft apart; 2) installation of new conduit, pull boxes, and cables for power and communications to the VOD system equipment; and 3) installation of VOD system equipment (i.e., cameras, illuminators, laser trigger, and pole-mounted cabinets) onto the two new Caltrans standard poles. The Civil Contractor will be responsible for performing the work described in improvements 1 and 2. Improvement 3 will be performed by others.
