The NW 36th Street and NW State Street Interim Improvements project includes street widening to provide a westbound left-turn lane, and construction of an eastbound right-turn lane, a span-wire traffic signal, and sidewalk located on NW 36th Street, from approximately 500' west of NW State Street to approximately 800' east of NW State Street in the City of Ankeny. The improvements include approximately 2,450 SY of 9" thick PCC street pavement, 30 LF of 15" and 24" RCP storm sewer, 200 LF of subdrain, a span-wire traffic signal with pedestrian facilities, 565 CY of Class 10 excavation, 220 SY of pavement removal, 1,350 LF of curb and gutter removal, subgrade preparation, modified subbase, and removal and replacement of driveways, pedestrian ramps and sidewalks. Other associated improvements include granular driveway, traffic control, pavement markings, erosion control, surface restoration, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. The City will furnish the fiber optic cables, 48V LED signal modules, and low-voltage ATC cabinet, controller and accessories for contractor installation. The Contractor shall fully complete the overall project within forty-five (45) working days. Full completion for the overall project shall be defined as all utility, grading, and pavement construction completed and the traffic signal fully operational, with the new streets, driveways, and sidewalks fully open to traffic, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. A mandatory six-day work week is required and working days will be charged on Saturdays. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s). Should the Contractor succeed in fully completing the work in less than forty-five (45) working days, an enhancement of payment in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per working day remaining within the forty-five (45) working day deadline, up to a maximum amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000), will be issued to the Contractor.
