Description: The 2023 PCC Reconstruction Program - SE 8th Street project includes pavement reconstruction and minor utility improvements along SE 8th Street from just west of SE Rio Circle/SE Richland Court to just west of SE Michael Drive in the City of Ankeny. The construction improvements include the slip-form paving of approximately 3,000 SY of 8" thick PCC Class C-SUD street pavement, along with approximately 225 SY of 7" thick PCC Class C-SUD intersection handwork, and 175 SY of 6" thick PCC Class C residential driveways. Other associated improvements include Class 10 excavation, subgrade preparation, modified subbase placement, subdrain installation, removal and replacement of storm sewer structures, minor and major adjustments to existing storm sewer and sanitary sewer structures, surface restoration, temporary traffic control, mobilization, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. Additional Description: The Contractor shall substantially complete the overall project in forty (40) working days. Substantial completion for the overall project shall be defined as all utility, grading, and pavement construction completed, with the new signs installed, and the new streets, driveways, and sidewalks fully open to traffic. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not substantially completed within the designated Contract term(s). The Contractor shall fully complete the overall project in ten (10) working days following substantial completion of the overall project. Full completion for the overall project shall be defined as all work including temporary surface restoration and punch list items completed, and all improvements ready for final acceptance. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not fully completed within the designated Contract term(s).
