The work to be done under this contract consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to perform and complete all work shown on the Plans and called for in these specifications, including all incidental work. Work generally consists of 0.17' deep grinding and HMA patching of areas that will be field marked prior to starting work, installation of paving fabric in driving lanes, installation of a 0.17' thick HMA overlay, pavement striping and marking installation, storm drain improvements and adjustment of utility boxes and lids to grade The foregoing quantities are approximate only, being given as a basis for the comparison of bids, and the City of Shasta Lake does not, expressly or by implication, agree that the actual amount of work will correspond therewith, but reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of any class or portion of the work in accordance with the General Contract Provisions, or to omit portions of the work, as may be deemed necessary or expedient by the Engineer. A prebid conference is scheduled between staff and interested bidders at Shasta Lake City Hall, 4477 Main St, Shasta Lake, on Wednesday March 2, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., at which time the project will be reviewed. All interested bidders are encouraged to attend. No bid will be considered unless it is made on the blank Proposal forms provided by the City and unless it is accompanied by a Bid Guarantee in the form of cash, bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check made payable to the City of Shasta Lake, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid amount. Each bidder must be licensed as required by law. The City of Shasta Lake reserves the right to reject any or all bids. All Contractors and Subcontractors shall possess appropriate Contractor's Licenses for their trade at the time the contract is awarded. Each proposal shall be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing the title of the work - Street Improvements 2022 - Bid No. 2022-04 - and the name of the bidder. The Contractor shall be permitted to substitute authorized securities under Public Contract Code Section 22300 for any monies withheld by the City to ensure performance under this contract. The City of Shasta Lake hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award. A-7320/21/22 In accordance with the General Contract Provisions, the Contractor shall begin work within fifteen (15) calendar days after the date of the execution of the construction contract and shall diligently prosecute the same to completion within a period not to exceed FORTY-FIVE (45) working days.
