The Town of Banff is seeking a qualified firm to supply seasonal turf flooring for an arena at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, AB. The purpose of this RFP is to select a qualified firm (Proponent) for the supply, delivery and training on install for a seasonal turf flooring surface for the Town of Banff (The Town). All interested proponents are invited to submit one electronic copy for turf floor, as per the attached specifications and requirements. The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre was built in 2010 and sees over 85,000 visitors each year. The Fenlands includes: An NHL sized arena with 4 dressing rooms (Arena 2) and spectator bleachers for 90 persons (the arena proposed for seasonal turf sports surface). A full-sized arena with 4 dressing rooms (Arena 1) and spectator bleachers for 500 persons. A concourse with views of mountain vistas and capacity for 200 persons. The concourse is also home to a small concession / catering operation. A full-service lounge and bar with capacity for 80 persons. Two modern meeting rooms with classroom audiovisual capabilities for between 40-50 persons. Parking lot with 137 stalls, and an additional overflow lot with 60 stalls. The Fenlands currently provides a myriad of programs and services to residents and visitors with winter rink activities being the primary source of revenue since the facility expansion and renovation in 2010. Other programs and services offered include, a community bike repair shop, showers, first aid, art and fitness classes, roller skating and skateboarding (seasonal), a family fun zone (seasonal) and retail sales. In January of 2022 Town council, in partnership with the Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation, approved the repurposing of a former leasehold space for a 500 square foot cardio and free weight room and indoor turf from April - October in Arena 2. These new amenities will support increased cost-recovery and year-round facility use by community members and groups for physical activity and sports programs.
