The Town of Chesterfield is accepting bids for re-roofing of the Edwards Museum at 3 North Road Chesterfield, MA. 1. Existing coatings contain lead. Remove all exterior trim, vents, and clapboards and contain and dispose of all removed material following Safe Lead Removal and Containment guidelines. 2. Provide a manifest for the legal disposal oflead paint. 3. Remove existing 22 shutters and repair/rebuild or replace in kind a total of 26 shutters. 4. Install pressure treated timbers to replace all rotted sills matching dimensions of existing sills. 5. Supply and install pressure treated plywood to replace rotted board sheathing (confirm amount during site visit). 6. Supply and install 3/4" termite shield under sills. 7. Add nailing to exterior skip board sheathing using 2-1/2" 8d, ring shank framing nails. 8. Clean up all debris and use a magnet roller to remove all nails from grounds. Windows 1. Complete removal of all hardware, paint, and glazing. 2. Remove old paint and glazing compound down to bare wood. 3. Remove and identify location of original glass. Existing broken glass will be replaced with historic glass when possible. 4. Sand wooden surfaces. 5. Inspect structural integrity ofunits and remove and replace rotted wood. 6. Fill open joints with Abatron epoxy consolidant and epoxy paste for structural integrity. 7. Set and clamp. 8. Fill, patch, and hand-sand muntin profiles. 9. Prime wood with alkyd (oil base primer). 10. Bed and re-glaze with Sarco, Dual M (or equivalent). Allow 5 days to skin-over. 11. Clean and return hardware for reinstallation. BID ALTERNATE #1 - RE-ROOF EDWARDS MUSEUM: Scope of Services for Bid Alternate #1: 1. Remove and replace roofing material ofthe Edwards Museum as follows: a. Bid to include main roof. b. Prepare area with tarps to protect shrubs and landscaping. c. Remove all layers ofroofing shingles. d. Install new plywood over entire existing roofstructure. e. Install new painted white aluminum drip edge along edges ofroof. f. Install minimum 6 feet ofice and water shield up from all edges ofroof. g- Install new 50-year architectural shingles.
