The Field Operations Division of the Western Virginia Water Authority (Authority) will accept sealed bids to establish contract for manhole frame and cover replacement. Work will consist of cutting and removing asphalt, underlying material including any adjustment shims, and existing manhole frame and cover down to solid concrete, brick, or grade ring and replacing with new manhole frame and cover or screw top valve box (for water vaults with valves up to 12 inches) including required concrete work and backfilling with pavement, gravel and/or cold patch. The Authority shall provide all manhole frames and covers, screw top valve boxes, valve boots, and cold patch (when necessary). Only Authority issued frames and covers, screw top valve boxes, and valve boots are acceptable. The unit price provided by the bidder shall include mobilization of all equipment and labor necessary to perform the work. The unit price shall include removal and offsite disposal of existing frame and cover, asphalt, and any fill material or damaged concrete, as well as supplying and placing backfill required to make a proper repair and replacement. In addition, the unit price shall include pavement, asphalt tack, and crack seal to all areas disturbed by the repair and replacement. All questions about the quality of work or the interpretation of the Authority's Standards will be through the Authority's Field Operations Division. The bid shall include all equipment, equipment operators, materials, transportation and any other materials required to complete the repair in accordance with the City of Roanoke, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Authority's standards.
