Renovation of a military facility in Northfield, Vermont. Working plans call for the renovation of a military facility.

As of September 21, 2022, no bids were received. No definite date for the rebid. Start Date 09/15/2022 The Town of Northfield is seeking bids from a qualified contractor to perform structural repairs to the municipal building located at 51 South Main, Northfield, VT as identified below. The Northfield Municipal Building was constructed in 1922 and is a two-story structure with the lower section partially underground. The upper level ceiling is wood framed and supported by the upper level partition walls. The upper floor consists of a concrete slab on metal lathe form and the slab bears on open web steel joists spanning to steel wide-flange beams. The steel beams span between the exterior walls and a row of interior, steel wide-flange columns positioned off- enter. Steel struts span between the columns. The lower floor is a concrete slab on ground with concrete retaining walls. A structural engineer has inspected the building and prepared an assessment report (including plan drawing) that identifies needed structural repairs which include: 1. Replace missing upper floor joist at north edge of building and temporary shoring as required. 2. Repair upper floor joist at south edge of building and temporary shoring as required. 3. Repair underside of concrete slab at southeast corner of upper floor structure. 4. Investigate upper floor structure along south wall to determine extent of joist corrosion and slab deterioration to determine if additional repairs are required. 5. Repair slab on ground as required to eliminate tripping hazards. 6. Verify that steel channel reinforcement was installed over wall openings in the east wall per a 1990 building assessment report. 7. Determine infill type material at north wall opening lower level, and if not CMU, replace infill with CMU. 8. Evaluate and repair northern most steel joist on upper floor structure and replace as needed. 9. At the south edge of upper floor structure, replace wood supports for circular slab penetration with steel framing. All responses to the request for bids shall include the following: 1. Cover Letter - A cover letter and general description of proposal 2. Scope of Work - Provide a scope of work 3. Proposed Schedule - Provide a schedule of project start and end date 4. Experience - List of similar projects 5. Project Budget - Provide a budget, including estimated project hours and materials. References - A minimum of three (3) references for whom a similar project has been completed within the last three (3) years. The Town of Northfield reserves the right to reject any and all proposals received as a result of this solicitation, to negotiate with any qualified source, to waive any formality and any technicalities or to cancel the request for bids in part or in its entirety if it is in the best interest of the Town of Northfield. This solicitation of proposals in no way obligates the Town of Northfield to award a contract. The Town of Northfield will negotiate contract terms upon selection. The contractor shall not start the project until the successful applicant enters into a written contract with the municipality. The Town of Northfield is not liable for any cost incurred by consultant prior to issuance of a contract. The contractor shall provide proof of Insurance Coverage such that All contractors, and any sub-contractors must carry adequate insurance coverage (not less than $1,000,000-per occurrence). $1,000,000 - General Aggregate Applying, in total, $1,000,000 - Products/Completed Operations Aggregate, $50,000 - Fire/Legal/Liability, and $1,000,000 - Automotive Liability), and must affirm being an equal opportunity employer.
