https://www.athensmessenger.com/news/contract-negotiations-to-begin-on-hvac-improvements-at-lin-hall/article_6003e7ae-a768-11ef-bbac-67a902a60027.html Contract negotiations to begin on HVAC improvements at Lin Hall Monday, the Athens County Board of Commissioners agreed to accept a bid from A.J. Stockmeister, Inc. for HVAC improvements at Lin Hall. Stockmeister bid approximately $1.65 million to upgrade the existing heating and cooling systems at the Ohio Museum Complex in Lin Hall, as part of a broader project to revitalize The Ridges and repurpose the facilities there for use by the community. HAPCAP received a competing bid from Sauer Group, though HAPCAP recommended the Athens County Board of Commissioners begin contract negotiations with Stockmeister. In other news, Superintendent of the Athens County Water and Sewer District Oscar Carson informed the Athens County Board of Commissioners that the pumping stations installed as part of the U.S. 50 Sanitation sewer project are seeing higher utility costs than initially anticipated. “They were just estimated low, but they’re close to what we figured,” Carson explains. “But a few of them were a little higher, but nothing out of line.” RELATED NEWS: The future of the Democratic Party: Hopeful new DNC chair weighs in Carson said the terrain along U.S. 50 means many of the pumping stations have to work harder to pump sewage uphill and downhill, resulting in higher utility costs. In total, it will cost around $40,000 more annually to operate these “lift stations” than had been originally planned. In other matters, ACEMS has paid for two new ambulances, which will arrive in March 2025, and has two more ambulances on order, which will arrive in May 2026. Each ambulance costs $200,000 and will require additional funds to equip with communications equipment. Only three radio sets will be required, as ACEMS has a radio set that was purchased to install in a truck that was later sold as surplus. The Athens County Board of Commissioners approved of ACEMS’ request to hire Dustin Shaw as a full-time EMT. The Athens County Board of Commissioners will also be attending a screening of the documentary “Honorable But Broken: EMS in Crisis” held at ACEMS’ training center on 21 Kenny Drive on Tuesday, October 26 at 8 a.m. ACEMS wants to raise awareness of the struggles faced by EMS personnel among the commissioners. The next Athens County Commissioners meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 26 in the commissioner’s conference room, located on the second floor annex of the Athens County Courthouse on 15 S. Court St. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ohio Museum Complex HVAC Improvements Estimate of Probable Cost for total project is: $1,700,000.00 The project is for building renovations to Lin Hall at The Ridges including Abatement, General Trades, HVAC, Plumbing, Electric, Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler and Site Work.
