Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Palmer, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; transportation facility; and water / sewer project.
Reconstruct three railroad grade crossings in Palmer, MA, and Ware, MA. Demolish existing grade crossing track, roadway, sidewalk approaches. Dispose of removed crossties (wood & concrete) and existing roadway materials. Furnish and install new crossing crossties, signal conduit, stone track ballast, rubber rail seal/asphalt crossings. Furnish and install HMA roadway, sidewalks, curbing and ADA Detectable Warning Panels. Project also includes drainage and ditching improvements. Contractor must show evidence of having worked on an active railroad on a project of equal or greater value and was able to complete the work with no impacts to railroad operations. Prospective bidders must be prequalified per MBTA "Procedures Governing Classification & Rating of Prospective Bidders." No award will be given to contractor not prequalified by MBTA in Class 1-General Transit Construction and/or Class 3-Trackwork for a $1.65 million contract value and who did not attend the pre-bid meeting & site tour. Contract will be awarded in accordance with M.G.L. c. 30, 39M.
