The improvements are anticipated to consist of horizontal curve warning signs at priority locations based on horizontal curve inventory and speed data collection and study. Install systemic roadway departure treatments, including profiled centerline and edge line pavement markings, high friction surface treatments, clear zone improvements, and supplemental curve warning signing and pavement markings. The selected firm will prepare drawings and specifications and construction estimate for a project that will fit within the City's approval and budget. Description of Work: This safety project will provide current MUTCD standard curve warning signs at all horizontal curves on arterials and major collectors in the city limits (approximately 20 curves to be determined during the study). o Conduct a horizontal curve inventory study and posted speed limit study to assess existing conditions o Collect advisory speed data for each curve and turn o Collect operating speeds near each curve and turn, then analyze that data using current methodologies to determine the most appropriate posted speed limit. o Calculate the difference between advisory speed and posted speed limit (per MUTCD) o Design signing treatments o Determine the required (shall) and recommended (should) sign package for each curve per MUTCD Table 2C-5 (e.g., advanced warning sign, advisory speed plaque, chevrons, and/or one direction large arrow). o Confirm sign placement feasibility via field review. o Produce plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for curve signing o Prepare cost estimate at various stages of design. The city will provide review and consultation on the drawings and specifications. The selected firm or group will provide the city with electronic .dwg files of all drawings in Autocad 2023 as well as PDF format. The City of La Center will have all rights for future use of the electronic files.
