Site work and paving for a road / highway in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The Kenosha County Comprehensive Bike Plan defined recommendations for multi-use trails and safe bike routes along our community's roadways. The proposed trail employs easements on several geographically critical, Thelen Sand and Gravel owned properties, that would enable the construction of a 4-mile connection to a broad range of parks/recreational amenities, tourist destinations, businesses and links to neighborhoods in Kenosha, Lake and McHenry counties. Design and engineering will occur in 2025 with anticipated construction in 2026. Kenosha County intends to apply for DOT Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) & CMAQ grants that will cover 80% of construction costs As of June 6, 2025, this project is in the County's 2025 Budget. A feasibility study is currently underway to determine if this can move forward to design and construction. No timeline is available yet. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
