Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Independence, Missouri. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The City has been awarded federal funding from the Mid America Regional Councils (MARC) Surface Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) fund to support this Project. The project will implement the Citys Complete Streets Policy and include the addition of new ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps, as well as bicycle lanes or a shared use path, pedestrian signal improvements, transit stop improvements, and new green infrastructure along 23rd Street (M-78) from M-291 to Speck Road. The project will provide alternative transportation modes for the community and improve access to the bus route along 23rd Street. These improvements will enhance the safety of all transportation users in the area, especially local school children, and connect residents and users to 3 middle schools and a nature park located on Speck Road. The city also wishes to improve landscaping and utilize best management practices (BMPs) to improve water quality while providing sufficient attenuation measures. This in return will improve air quality and offers environmental protection for the citys resources.
