This maintenance contract is crucially important to McConnell AFB being allowed to use fuel storage tanks. All of the USTs and all of the larger ASTs require a permit from the State of Kansas for us to be able to utilize the tank. UST's and AST's are to be inspected/maintained annually, at minimum, all actions require a person certified by the State of Kansas to perform them. McConnell AFB does not have anyone certified to do this; therefore, these activities must be contracted out in order to continue in permitted status of tanks. Losing the permits for the tanks, would cause McConnell to lose its ability to store fuel in that tank, which would adversely impact the mission. *A formal site visit will not be conducted for this requirement.
