As of July 21st, 2023 this project is pending an award decision. All tools, materials, labor, supervision, and equipment for the geotechnical investigation, design, and installation of structural underpinning of the west side of the existing Atlantic Recreation Center's Auditorium structure on Atlantic Avenue in Fernandina Beach, Florida, complete including, but not limited to, performing a geotechnical subsurface investigation if necessary to determine the existing soil conditions for use in the design of the underpinning system, any necessary selective earthwork and restoration of any areas disturbed as a result of the work. The Contractor is to provide with his bid, his proposed methodology and type of stabilization recommended. The Contractor agrees to commence work within ten days after the Notice to Proceed is issued and to complete all work within 120 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. CITY reserves the right to reject any CONTRACTOR employee doing business for the awarded CONTRACTOR that has not received the proper safety training or is not performing work in a safe manner. Any costs resulting in a rejection of personnel will be solely at the CONTRACTOR's expense. Right to Inspect Work - the CITY will have the right to inspect the work at all times. Such inspections will not relieve CONTRACTOR of any of its obligations to perform the work in strict accordance with the contract documents. Should the awarded CONTRACTOR fail to complete work and make the area available for use within the stipulated period CONTRACTOR may be assessed by the CITY the amount of One hundred dollars ($100.00) for each consecutive calendar day that expires after the time specified for completion and ready for final payment until the work is complete. Question Deadline Jun 12, 2023 The Atlantic Recreation Center's Auditorium, constructed in the 1950's, has incurred settlement of the west and southwest corner of the building, likely due to soil settlement. This portion of the Auditorium, due to its proximity to the marsh/wetlands area, was likely constructed on soft silty soils. It is unknown when the settlement occurred. This settlement has caused diagonal cracking in several areas in the building's masonry walls and is also evidenced in a westerly slope occurring in the flooring. In an effort to stabilize the existing structure from further settlement and cracking, the City is soliciting qualified structural foundation underpinning/stabilization contractors. .
