The general services required is for evaluation and design services for sanitary sewer lift stations, force mains, and gravity sewers, in the City of Athens. The City is experiencing growth along the Columbus Road Corridor, with the addition of a new hospital,
and nearby land available for annexation.
The existing sanitary system in the Columbus Road area consists of four lift stations:
Theatre Lane lift station: a private lift station constructed in the late 1980's serving the Day's Inn,
the In-Town Body Shop, Greenleaf Landscaping, and the former radio station property.
Columbus Road Lift Station 1: A City owned "can style" lift station, located on Dorr Road,
constructed in 1979. The station has 3 hp motors.
Columbus Road Lift Station 2: A City owned lift station, located on Columbus Circle, constructed in
2007.
Currier Street Lift Station: A city owned lift station that was removed from service in 2007 with the
construction of the Columbus Road Lift Station 2
The selected design firm will design a lift station upgrade for the Columbus Road Lift Station 1, with the
following considerations:
The City would like to review converting this station from a can style station to a submersible
station.
The station will include a portable generator.
o Telemetry at the existing station will be reviewed, and may need to be modified Estimated date of Authorization
October, 2023 Completion Schedule
The final report is to be completed and on file with the City of Athens within three (3) months from the date of authorization for the study. Final design is expected to be completed by June, 2024. Consultant agrees that Consultant, any subconsultant, and any person acting on behalf of Consultant, or subconsultant shall not, in any manner, discriminate against, intimidate, or retaliate against any employee hired for the performance of work under this Agreement on account of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, familial status, or disability
