The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - St. Paul District seeks a contractor to perform a prescribed burn of approximately 130 acres of established native prairie in Wabasha County, MN, southeast of Kellogg, near the West Newton Public Boat Launch. There is an option for woody vegetation control (cutting and stump treating with herbicide) of approximately 200 stems across 51 acres, varying in size from 1-8" in diameter. This option will only be exercised after successful completion of the prescribed burn. The prescribed burn will be completed when the weather, fuel and other site factors match the prescribed descriptions in the burn plan. The burning must occur between October 10 and November 25, to prevent impacts to the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee, a Federally listed endangered species known to be present at the site.
