The project will generally consist of the supply and install of a new municipal household waste incinerator and modifications to the existing waste storage building. The existing incinerator will be decommissioned and disposed. Manitoba Municipal and Northern Relations, on behalf of the community of Island Lake, Manitoba, is issuing this Request for Proposal. The Island Lake Community is located on Stevenson Island in the Island Lake Region of Northern Manitoba. Winter road access is available on a 250km provincial winter road via Norway House. Stevenson Island is 412 air kilometers northeast of Winnipeg and 260 air kilometers southeast of Thompson. Daily flights are available from Winnipeg. There are local overnight accommodations in the community, and more services at the neighboring Garden Hill First Nation. Island Lake Community Council is governed by a mayor and council under The Northern Affairs Act. The project will be located at the existing Incinerator / Waste Disposal Site. The project will generally consist of the supply and install of a new municipal household waste incinerator and modifications to the existing waste storage building. The existing incinerator will be decommissioned and disposed. The Contractor agrees to obtain, maintain throughout the term of the Agreement, and provide evidence to Manitoba Commercial General Liability Insurance covering claims for injury, death or damage to property arising out of the Contractor or its officers, employees or agents providing Services under the Agreement, or as a result of any negligent acts or omissions of the Contractor or its officers, employees or agents. Such insurance shall provide coverage of not less than two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) per occurrence. By setting the foregoing minimum coverage, Manitoba does not represent that such amount is adequate to cover all possible claims or losses of this kind and expressly disclaims such a representation.
