This project is included in the City of Dublin's fiscal years 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of December 29, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. A firm timeline for construction has not been established; however, funding is allotted to fiscal years 2024-2025. A detailed scope has not yet been released.
This project will improve the congested conditions along the Bright Road corridor and at the Bright Road and Sawmill Road intersection. The project is based on the 2019 Sawmill Road Corridor Study recommendations and the more recent Mount Carmel Traffic Impact Study. The projects include right-of way acquisition, construction and utilities. Several intersection types were reviewed and analyzed in the Sawmill Road Corridor Study, completed in 2019. A more recent traffic impact study was performed on the Mount Carmel site and refined the turn lane lengths. The recommended lane additions include: An eastbound through lane on Bright Road, which will transition to a right turn lane at Sawmill Road East and west bound left turn lanes from Bright Road to the Mount Carmel and future site entrances, respectively Dual northbound left turn lanes on Sawmill Road, including a westbound through lane added for the receiving lane west of Sawmill Road. The project includes pedestrian and bicycle facilities, per the Bikeway Plan in the Community Plan. Congestion and delays are common in this project area. Additional capacity is needed to relieve the issue. This project is being coordinated with the City of Columbus and the Mount Carmel development team. The project is part of the Mount Carmel Infrastructure Agreement. Costs have been updated to reflect the 90% design drawings. The project is on schedule and construction is expected to begin in spring 2024. Construction is expected to include final paving, landscaping and area clean-up. $500,000 is added under "Other" for Construction Administration for construction inspection support services. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
