This work shall consist of pruning street trees and park trees for traffic and pedestrian clearance, tree health, removing trees as designated, stump removal, tree planting, staking and inventory of trees as well as leaving the work site in a neat, clean, and orderly condition upon completion of the work or at the end of the day, in the area as specified in these specifications and the special provisions. The Contractor will cease all pruning activities when the designated number of trees has been pruned. Regardless of size of the tree the price to prune will be the same for all grid and park trees. This work also includes scheduled crew pruning according to a mutually established maintenance schedule as well as emergency call outs, over and above the grid pruning. All green waste to be disposed of by the Contractor and the cost to be included within the various bid items. The City will select, the most qualified Contractor with competitive prices to perform the work. The City reserves the right to award a contract for performance of the required services based on the negotiated price, terms and conditions. The City reserves the right to reject all bids and circulate another RFP. The city reserves the right to award the contract to more than one contractor. Contractor to follow the guidelines as outlined in the City's Standard Tree Planting and Staking (L-17) standards and Tree Root Barrier (L-18) standards. There is no tree establishment period, however, there is a 90-day warranty for the workmanship and health of the nursery stock for newly planted trees. If a tree failure is a result of vandalism, trauma or irrigation failures, however, the warranty shall not apply. Contractors submitting a proposal and their subcontractors shall possess a valid, current and in good standing C-27 (Landscape) contractor's license issued by the California Contractor's State License Board (CSLB) and comply with all other license, insurance and permit requirements of the City, State and Federal governments, as well as all other requirements of the law The term of the agreement is for three years, with two, one-year extensions. The City anticipates City Council authorization to award a contract/agreement on January, 2024.
