The total length of project sidewalks is approximately 4,000 linear feet (LF). Of that total, R&R is approximated at 2,250 LF, and new sidewalk is approximated at 1,700 LF. Installation of a total of 14 ADA curb ramps is included in the project. Figure 1 provides an overview of the project and Figures 2 through 7 provide a more detailed perspective of project segments. The project is an infill development project, providing improvements to the existing rights-of-way within an historic part of the Town. Contractor shall expect that a focus of the work will be field-fit solutions based on the general details provided with this Request for Bids. Questions may be submitted in writing by email, no later than Friday, January 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm, to: Mark Gray - mgray@keenesburg.org or through Bidnet The Town of Keenesburg will construct approximately 4,000 LF of sidewalk, demolish existing sidewalks where needed, and construct 14 ADA compliant ramps in neighborhoods with high concentrations of seniors and low to moderate-income persons within the town limits. Existing sidewalks in the project area that are currently less than five (5) feet wide will be demolished and replaced with sidewalks five (5) feet wide to meet current ADA standards. There are also two areas where the remove and reconstruct width will exceed five (5) feet. One area, located on Main Street, is ten (10) feet wide, and another area, located on Crawford Avenue, is eight (8) feet wide. The volume calculation on the worksheet reflects those widths for those locations. All new and replaced sidewalk thickness not subject to heavy duty vehicle traffic will be five (5) inches. At locations where commercial vehicle access will be provided, sidewalks will be thickened to eight (8) inches. Corner ramps will be ADA-compliant in accordance with CDOT details provided in Attachment 2. All ramps shall be directional Type 2 ramps, as depicted on Standard Sheet No. 5 of 10 in the M-608-1 standard plan series in Attachment 2. Both one-directional and two-directional crossings will be included in the project. In the attached figures, the outlined areas need either new sidewalks or will require the removal and reconstruction of old sidewalks. Areas may require the removal of architectural barriers which will enable the placement of a new ADA compliant sidewalk. The project is an infill development project, providing improvements to the existing rights-of-way within an historic part of the Town. Contractor shall expect that the work will require field-fit solutions based on the general details provided with this Request for Bids. The Town may opt to self-perform sidewalk demolition. Therefore, demolition will not be included in the base bid and provide bids for items that require demo in Schedule B.
