This project proposes to convert the intersection of Sunset Strip and NW 15th Street from a four-way stop to a roundabout. The modification of the intersection to a roundabout will improve traffic flow and safety. Currently this intersection experiences extended queuing times for north and south bound traffic. The implementation of a roundabout at this location will improve the level of service in all directions of travel while maintaining the ability for vehicles to navigate the intersection safely. The project will include survey, design and construction of the roundabout and associated improvements. In addition to the roundabout, anticipated improvements include irrigation, landscaping, hardscaping, lighting, and ADA improvements. City Staff are currently evaluating and coordinating with Broward County regarding the conversion of the current 4-way stop condition to a 2-way stop condition that would allow for improved travel times and reduced queus along Sunset Strip as a temporary modification while the subject project is designed and permitted. The project is include in the city's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
