The Springtree Water Treatment Plant currently uses Reverse Osmosis (RO) to provide 2 MGD treatment from the Floridan Aquifer. The Utilities Department recently evaluated the viability of converting the RO treatment process to nanofiltration (NF) treatment. Since the City has been granted additional Biscayne aquifer allocation at this site due to participation in C-51 reservoir regional project, use of the Biscayne Aquifer would be allowed for NF treatment. The City recently initiated the design for conversion from RO to NF where use of major existing infrastructure of the existing RO treatment system including cartridge and membrane filter housing, cleaning system, chemical system, degassifiers and air quality control system is expected. The phase I project is planned to be completed in FY 23. This project consists of addition of second train including feed pumps, membrane skid, chemical systems, and post treatment system for reliability of phase I and existing Deep Injection Wells. The project is include in the city's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
