The City of Topeka is seeking bids from qualified contractors to remove, replace, repair, and restore the stone steps and handrails at the Topeka Performing Arts Center (TPAC), 214 SE 8th Street. Q And A Close5/2/2024 3:30:00 AM The City of Topeka is seeking bids from qualified contractors to remove, replace, repair, and restore the stone steps and handrails at the Topeka Performing Arts Center (TPAC), 214 SE 8th Street. The project aims to address safety concerns, improve accessibility, and enhance the steps' aesthetic appeal. Bidders are required to submit their Excel Bid Form and Reference form with their bid. Failure to submit any required documentation in response to the bid event may disqualify any bidder. The project areas, as shown in Exhibit A, are as follows: 1. Steps/Landing on the south side, the main entrance to TPAC 2. Handrail on the east side of the steps 3. Steps/Landing on the southeast corner of TPAC B. Scope of Work 1. Base Bid Item # 1: Steps/Landing South Side, Main Entrance to TPAC a. Several sections beneath the steps and landing pad have experienced subgrade erosion. Remove the stone, repair the subgrade, and address any damage to the stone itself. Additionally, the handrail on the east side (right side when facing the steps) requires removal and replacement with a similar material. 2. Base Bid Item # 2: Steps/Landing Southeast Corner of TPAC a. Several sections beneath the steps and landing pad have experienced subgrade erosion. Remove the stone, repair the subgrade, and address any damage to the stone itself. 3. The scope of work includes but is not limited to: a. Removal of damaged or loose stones b. Leveling and preparation of the base c. Installation of new or repaired stones d. Mortar joint repair and pointing e. Cleanup and disposal of debris 4. Add Alternate Bid Item # 3: Rout and Seal Cracks a. Rout and seal cracks that might be causing erosion under the steps. Safety The Contractor shall provide and maintain a safe work environment utilizing procedures that safeguard the public, building staff members, property, materials, supplies, and equipment exposed to work activities during the project. The Contractors shall provide appropriate safety barriers and signage to designate hazardous areas. The construction limits will be clearly identified and marked to deter unauthorized personnel access. D. Warranty The awarded contractor must provide a minimum of one (1) year warranty on the workmanship provided for the removal, replacement, repair, and restoration of the stone steps and handrails as specified herein. E. Award of Bid This bid will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder for any combination of the base bid and/or plus alternate bids(s) if determined to be in the best interest of the City. F. Contract Time Work will commence as soon as practical with the issuance of a Start Work Order. The project shall be completed within 90 days of from the date the Start Work Order is issued. G. References Each bidder must furnish the names, addresses, and contact details of at least three (3) customers who have received step repair and restoration services within the past five (5) years.
