Renovation of a municipal facility in Oregon City, Oregon. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
All work will be directed by representatives from the Clackamas Chapter of Trout Unlimited, US Forest Service Enterprise Program and Clackamas River Ranger District, and ODFW biologists. The goals of the Cub Creek Phase II Restoration project are to increase habitat connectivity, availability, complexity, and quality for anadromous ESA-listed salmonids and resident aquatic species through the redistribution of alluvium and addition of large wood. Cub Creek Phase II work being implemented in 2024 is designed to restore lower Cub Creek (River Mile (RM) 0.0 to 0.4) to a Stage 0 condition and increase the density of large wood across the valley floor. Phase II work will include the following activities: 1. Establishing access routes by navigating equipment through a fire-killed stand, clearing logs and trees from access routes and staging them for placement across the floodplain. 2. Placing barrier nets for fish salvage efforts. 3. Redistributing sediment from removal (cut) zones to stockpiled areas along the edge of the current main channel allowing for shaping of the floodplain to match the geomorphic grade line relative elevation model (GGLREM), 4. Installment of a temporary drivable berm separating the floodplain from the main channel for water diversion. 5. Filling of super sacks with alluvium and securing them to the top of the main channel thereby isolating and dewatering the main channel, redistributing sediment from the berm to the main channel to match the GGLREM. 6. Placement and partial burial of large wood and slash across the valley floor, and rehabilitation of the entire Project Area. Bids for construction of the Cub Creek Phase II Restoration Project are welcome from all qualified parties. Questions regarding the project will be accepted until May 27, 2024.
