The Project Description may be derived from the following: The Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District (District) is soliciting Statements of Qualification from engineering firms to produce detailed engineered drawings and specifications for a road paving rehabilitation project at City Docks in Lake Charles, Louisiana (150 Marine Street). The existing roads are in poor condition and in need of repair. There are several different pavement sections throughout the existing roadway system. It is anticipated that several types of repair and reconstruction techniques will be required. Modifications to pavement geometries and traffic patterns shall be analysed. Recommendations for improved traffic flow and site logistics shall be provided. Traffic signage and striping design shall be provided by the engineer. Expedited construction techniques shall be considered. Suggested sequence of construction and temporary traffic control that will minimize impact to port operations shall be incorporated into the design. The ideal firm will demonstrate experience in heavy pavement design, traffic engineering and roadway design. Experience with various soil stabilization techniques for heavy pavement is key. Due to the nature of the project a firm with inhouse survey capabilities is preferable. At this time, the estimated construction budget for is $1.5 million dollars.
