The work for which bids are being requested consists of the following: Water meter replacements. New water meters shall be installed in a meter pit near the roadway right-of-way at locations where the existing water meter is in the home / structure. Neither the OWNER nor the ENGINEER will be responsible for partial sets of documents obtained from any other source. The Advertisement for Bids, Plan Holder's List, all Addenda, and the Bid Tabulation will also be posted on the Wightman website bidding page A certified check or bank draft drawn on a solvent bank in the State of Michigan payable without condition to the OWNER, or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and a surety company, in an amount equal to 5 percent of the bid shall be submitted with each bid. No bids may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days to allow for the review of proposals and to allow completion of necessary financial arrangements. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a satisfactory Performance Bond in the amount of 100 percent of the Contract price. Bond forms are included in the Contract Documents. Description This work consists of replacing water meters for various water customers and shall include all required fittings and all materials and work necessary to reconnect an existing water service to the new meter pits. The existing water meters are within the homes (or structure) at locations proposed for replacement. The proposed location for the replaced water meters is at the property line near the curb stop, or as directed by the ENGINEER or OWNER. Incidental to the contract pay items associated with this project specification shall be all materials (not supplied by the Township), equipment, and labor to complete the work as described below, including excavation, trenching, backfill, and all other work necessary to complete the work. The existing meter within the home (or structure) shall remain in place. Materials All water services materials such as meters, meter pits, services sleeves, etc. must be the type currently used by the local municipality, as specified below, and must be approved by the ENGINEER or OWNER prior to being order or incorporated into the project. o Service lines 2" or smaller will be ASTM B88, Type K copper tubing. o Meter Pit ball valve to be Ford BA94-444-WNL o Meter Pit 90to be Ford L94-44 ELLNL o Meter Pit yoke bar to be Ford Y504 o All brass fittings on copper services are to be compression fittings. o Plastic corrugated Pit, 36" x 24" o Cast extension ring, 24" x 20", Ford NO 2 EXT -2 or equivalent o Frost Proof lid, Ford W3 Meter Cover- 20" ID 11 1/2 " lid w/ touch pad or equivalent The OWNER will provide all meter pits, meters, meter yoke bar, meter yoke, and meter yoke valve for the CONTRACTOR to install.
