Renovation of a municipal facility in Halifax, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 23,875-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility.
The Halifax County Court Services building is a three-level, fully operational courthouse. Level one houses government functions, such as Clerk of Court, Register of Deeds and county Tax Department. Level two houses four (4) fully functional courtrooms providing superior, district, and magistrate court functions. Level three is currently open storage space. At the completion of a programming study, Halifax County decided to provide selective demolition and renovation to levels one and two to expand the growing county offices. Renovation work on levels one and two will total approximately 23,875sf. The level three space will be fully upfitted with an additional district courtroom, judges' offices, a district attorney suite, and a juvenile services suite. Level three will total approximately 18,000sf. Included in the project scope will be the installation of an automatic fire suppression system throughout the entire building, approximately 70,000sf. The existing Court Services building is currently non-sprinkled. Stair towers and elevator towers will need to be extended from level two to level three. All work will need to be phased in order to keep the Court Services building fully operational during demolition / renovation / construction. Phases will align with county budgets, grant funding, and construction feasibility. Identify your five (5) most successful projects relative to MWBE participation, indicate the percentage achieved and if the MWBE goal was met or exceeded. Describe what strategies were used to make these projects successful. Bid Date Notes: Submittals shall be made on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, side bound with Table of Contents and reference tabs for key sections. The total submittal shall not exceed forty (40) single sided pages. All pages are to be consecutively numbered. All materials not clearly labeled "Trade Secret" or "Confidential" shall become property of Halifax County and will be considered public documents (Reference Section XI - Confidentiality of Documents).
