Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Independence, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
As of July 8, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. The scope of this project is for a new entrance off of Route 685 (Powerhouse Road), a gravel access road, gravel parking area, accessible parking and a paved trail (approximately 180 feet long) from the parking area to the Powerhouse Falls viewing area across Route 685. There are no existing or proposed structures, utilities or restroom facilities on-site. The proposed land-disturbing activities consist of earthwork associated with preparing the gravel road bed, parking area and trail, as well as the related erosion and sediment control measures and features as shown on the plans. The project consists of the construction of a commercial entrance, gravel access drive, gravel parking lot, two paved ADA van-accessible parking areas, and a paved trail approximately 180 feet in length connecting the parking lot to the Powerhouse Falls site. The contract is to be awarded on a lump sum basis. Scope of work outlines the requirements for the construction of a low-volume commercial VDOT entrance, gravel access drive, gravel parking lot (126'X80'), two paved ADA van-accessible parking spaces, and a paved trail approximately 180 feet in length connecting the parking area to the Powerhouse Falls site. This trail crosses under the Powerhouse Road (Route 689) bridge. The project aims to provide safe and accessible parking and pedestrian infrastructure in compliance with Grayson County, VDOT, and ADA standards and regulations. All work shall be performed in accordance with the site plans titled "Powerhouse Falls, New Parking Lot, Independence Virginia" by Hurt & Proffitt, Inc. dated April 18, 2024. The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall be according to provision "(ii)" contained in 11-54, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended. The County of Grayson reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities or irregularities, and to Contract as the best interest of Grayson County. The bid award will be based on the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.
