Renovation of a civil project in Hamilton, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

Bidders eligible to submit Bids for this Request for Tenders have been previously selected through the process of a Request for Prequalifications, issued under Contract C14-09-24, which closed on Friday, July 19, 2024. The scope of work consists of but is not limited to the following: 1. Excavation and stockpiling of soil above the valve chamber, excavated soil will be reused unless it is deemed not to be suitable for reuse; 2. Review Project Specific Designated Substance & Hazardous Materials Assessment Application of appropriate Lead and Silica abatement protocols to complete the works according to the choice of construction means and methods 3. Remove all visible rust on all exposed steel components of the North Valve Chamber (NVC) process piping, including victaulic couplings as per applicable SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) Standards 4. Prepare cleaned exposed steel surface, as per applicable SSPC Standards, included but not limited to: SSPC-SP 1 Solvent Cleaning 5. Fill concrete mortar cracks with petrolatum tape primer, apply petrolatum tape primer on cleaned exposed steel surfaces and process piping concrete mortar; 6. Apply petrolatum mastic to allow for adequate contouring and transitioning between irregular profiles, including but not limited to: valve flanges, blind flanges, concrete mortar to exposed steel interface, etc; 7. Application of petrolatum tape, throughout entire NVC process piping, particularly concrete mortar, exposed steel surfaces, as shown in Drawing P101. Components such as 1200 mm isolation valves, air release valves and other appurtenances will not be coated; 8. Removal and replacement of all rusted hardware associated with all flanges, and victaulic couplings; 9. Removal and replacement of two rusted 500 mm blind flanges; 10.Installation of applicable flange isolation kits for new blind flanges and applicable isolation washers and sleeves for the new hardware (i.e.bolts, nuts,washers) installed throughout the chamber; 11.Removal, design and replacement of all pipe supports; 12.Removal and replacement of the air release and vacuum breaker valve and associated appurtenances located on the North-West discharge header; 13.Removal and replacement of existing NVC maintenance hole cover with new curb and watertight access hatch; 14.Provide waterproofing over the removable concrete access panels on the top of the NVC; and 15.Perform site preparation and restoration. The construction will be completed between January and April 2025 to minimize the impact on regular water service to the City's customers.
