The Rural Municipality of Gimli is accepting tenders for the demolition and removal of two buildings in the Gimli Industrial Park at 232 Dunlop Ave also known as the H-building and the old water treatment building & two reservoirs. The 7000 sq foot H-Building & 900 square foot water treatment building was part of the Airforce base which was built in the 1950's. The buildings are known to contain asbestos containing materials. The work to be done under this contract shall consist of the following: Obtain all necessary permits and utility locates. Asbestos Removal & Disposal: Removal and proper dispose of asbestos containing materials according to the Workplace Safety & Health Act W210 & Manitoba Regulation 217/2006 Part 37. Asbestos containing materials must be taken to a Class 1 licensed landfill for proper disposal. The 232 Dunlop Building Asbestos Assessment Report is attached. The Water Treatment Building has similar asbestos containing materials. H Building Demolition & Hauling to Arnes Landfill: Demolition and removal of building (~7000 square feet) in the Gimli Industrial Park at 232 Dunlop Ave. The material is to be hauled to and disposed of at the Arnes Landfill located at 15026 Ridge Road, Rural Legal Desc SW10-21-3E. Water Treatment Building & Reservoirs Demolition & Hauling to Arnes Landfill: Demolition and removal of the water treatment building and reservoirs in the Gimli Industrial Park at 232 Dunlop Ave. The material is to be hauled to and disposed of at the Arnes Landfill located at 15026 Ridge Road, Rural Legal Desc SW10-21-3E. Concrete and metal & water pipes that has been separated from other waste material can be disposed of in the appropriate location at the Arnes Landfill. All equipment (generators, pumps, etc.) are to be removed from the Water Treatment Building and taken to Building 19 on Anson St for storage. Provide necessary security fencing around the site. Protect existing trees where possible. Site Restoration: o H-Building foundation is to be filled in with RM provided clean fill. The contractor is responsible for hauling the fill to the site to restore the site to proper grade. o The water reservoirs are 46.5 wide x 76.5 feet long x 16 feet deep = 57,000 cubic feet empty space that is to be filled in with fill that will be provided by the RM and is located nearby. The fill is to be hauled by the contactor and placed into the open space. The Water Treatment building foundation is to be filled in with RM provided clean fill to proper grade. o Complete the entire restoration site by supplying & applying four inches of topsoil and grass seed.
